Updated Google Image Search Options

During a normal google search about ICC cricket results,   I was surprised to see the new image search filter results appearing on the google

Here is how you can see the fun
- go to google.com
- click on word you wish to search
- once the results appear, click on images option that appears below the search bar (by default you are in 'all options)

- Once in images tab, you can see the colourful tags against which you can filter your results
- I guess each color represent categories. You can scroll down upto two levels
- For cricket I got this different colors

level 1 : {insect, grasshopper, spider , giant weta}, {sport, tennis, baseball, football}, {English, hindi, bangla} etc..

I clicked on English which is third group. below results appears

level 2 :{ancient}, {playing},{village,county,Glamorgan,village green,england},{sarah taylor, Danielle},

Only when you select an item from group 3 such as village/county, you search limit will be exhausted

However if you select a search term from other groups, you still have an option to dig further

Enjoy this colourful searching and filtering.

Note : this colourful tab is not appearing in IE browser. I saw it only in chrome browser.

Why Use Advertiser Extensions?

Many hours are spent on internet everyday across different types of devices (PC, Mobile, Tablet). Hence it is important for all business to have a good search strategy.

Location extensions help drive more in-store traffic and guide customers straight to your advertiser’s doorstep. They will see the address, phone number and a link to directions.

When advertisers enable Location Extensions, it helps in

  • showing the address of their business location that is closest to the customer
  • showing the business details of the business.

When there is a location-specific offering, location extensions drives more traffic for business. So it helps
  • To make ads more actionable – make it easy to click for directions
  • To increase leads
  • To improve overall CTR
  • To allow better tracking

Sitelink Extensions are additional text+URL pairs that provide links to an advertiser’s website and can be associated with a text ad campaign of the advertiser. These links provide better access points into the business website, thus helping to drive searchers to exactly the accurate information they are trying to find. This can increase CTR.

This allow advertisers to include multiple deep links within their ads, taking searchers directly to the information they are looking for

Sitelink extensions are all about determining searcher intentions
  • For advertisers with multiple product groups
    • Advertisers that have various departments within their account structure can send advertisers to the correct section of their site
  • For brand keywords
    • Site link extensions are especially good for brand keywords when the searcher’s intention is not clear
    • For example, a bank could have such sitelinks as – mortgages, loans, insurance or bank accounts
  • To improve overall CTR
    • Providing sitelinks gives the searcher more of a reason to click on your ad as it provides extra space for advertisers to call out the products or services it provides
  • To improve overall conversions
    • Site links can bring searchers closer to the product or service they are interested in
    • The closer you can drop a searcher to their desired content, the more likely they are to buy and not click back
  • Better reporting on searcher behaviours
    • Allows advertisers to get a better idea of what specific areas searchers are looking for when they search on their brand and generic keywords
    • We can see user intention. For example if a searcher searches on a bank’s brand name and then chooses loans, we know what their intention was when searching originally
    • We can then use this information to target these areas in ad copy or keywords
    • You can pull reports to see what sitelinks are getting clicked

Online Advertisers - Are you benefiting from Re-marketing ?

If you are a user : Have you ever wondered why some of your past searches from a different website haunt you or pass you to the same original link.

If you are an advertiser or online shop owner : Have you ever thought how you can make use of the logs of countless visitors who do not purchase from your website?

Well the answer lies in concept of Remarketing using exclusively by many browse engines today

Remarketing can help advertisers reconnect with potential customers when they conduct searches on the relevant Network. Remarketing in "Search engines" allows potential advertisers to target visitors who have previously visited an advertiser’s site or modify their advertisements setting for these visitors when they are searching on the partner/relevant Networks. Additionally, advertisers can customise their advertisements and broaden their set of relevant keywords for such audience

Some of the key benefits offered by Remarketing include:

  • Better target and segmentation of users: Advertisers can potentially reach better highly qualified end users who have high probability of  interest in products being sold, due to their recent activity – like visiting your site, abandoning a shopping cart,  or an action that is important to your business growth
  • Better ROI: Improve your campaign performance with page position, CTR and variety of user metrics by customizing your bids, ads and keywords to users who have visited your site
  • Track latest trends: The information of users who cannot find a relevant product on the website, can help advertisers learn from the searches of end users. Using this learning, they can update the inventory to get most of the newer keywords getting into the system

Have you ever used Remarketing? Would like to know your experience?

Autopost from Blogger to Tumblr

One of the the things recently i was trying to figure out is how to share my content from blogger blog to tumblr blog automatically. Though manually i could have done it, i wanted this share to happen automatically whenever a new post is live.

On Wordpress, it is easy to share on different social platforms with Publicize. So the content published on wordpress.com is automatically shared when my post is live/published.

But on blogger platform, i struggled to find the alternatives. Well google has many alternatives. But i will mention here the options which i tried

1. Dlvr.it

This is one of the first apps i tried for using. But the free version has limited usage. For example i could not use it because the "Feed exceeds 512KB size limit.". Hence i moved on to a different option

But the website has a good interface based on the limited use cases accessible to free user.

2. IFTTT.com

As i explored more, i landed on this option. This option also finally solved the problem i intended to solve.

Once you signup, you will realize that this website has services for many social platforms. Each activity done on social platforms can be auto reflected/posted on some other social platform. Hence first "Go to Search" and "search for "Tumblr" services/applets"

i chose the below service for my blog

This app is very handy and has many useful services/applets for all social platform. I found many which i could user with my instagram , facebook accounts.

Have you used any other apps for autoposting ?

Do you know what is a Mobile Wallet?

As many of us in India are trying to deal with the impact of Demonetization, one key question that everybody is hoping is that digitization win quickly. But have you ever wondered how can you keep you digital money safe? Or how digital currency can be carried like physical currency.

Well then it is important to know about Mobile Wallets and why it is needed.

WHAT IS MOBILE WALLET?

A physical wallet, as we know, is used to carry physical cash, credit cards, and loyalty coupons. Mobile wallet replaces physical wallet with secure PIN based transactions on mobile platform. It is a virtual wallet used for paying utility bills, purchasing goods and services, and transferring money etc. It holds details of credit/debit card, bank account along with loyalty cards and coupon details on the mobile platform and can be organized using a payment application.

A mobile wallet can have one or more than one payment instruments. The payment instrument can be physically embedded in the mobile phone itself (using NFC chip enabled mobile phones) or having remote link to the secure payment instrument. The payment can be made by downloading the wallet application on the smartphone or through some embedded functionality on the smartphone. A wide range of channels like SMS, USSD, NFC and Web can be used for making payment.

As per a research report published by Allied Market Research, 20% more users carry their smartphone all the time in comparison to carrying a wallet all the time. With extensive range of features available in mobile wallet, the heavy wallet can be left at home and mobile with wallet application can be carried instead. Consumers are now more interested in having a single wallet with multiple payment options rather than one financial institution providing multiple payment mechanisms. Consumers will be able to pay everything using the smartphones.

Having multiple options for consumers to make payments, mobile wallet enables consumers to choose the best one from a variety of options in terms of maximizing offers, and minimizing interest rate and convenience charges. Mobile wallet also provides additional services like searching for products/services, obtaining receipts, displaying real time offers. Consumers can also put in real time updates on social networking sites and provide feedback.  They can also create wish lists on different shopping portals and can receive updates on availability.

Individual transactions are authenticated by rules set up by service provider and are in conformance to all local regulations. Mobile wallet is symbolic of convenience for consumers, and with extensive range of services available, it is on its way to become a one stop solution for the payment and shopping needs for a consumer.

SURVEY : Before Demonetization was implemented

We conducted a two stage survey before demonetization happened, mainly targeting a 20-40 year age group customers with profession ranging from student, Analysts to IT professional. Below are the survey findings.

  1. Mobile wallet is a new concept and over 80% of the respondents have never used a mobile wallet.
  2. For 57% users, who are aware of mobile wallet, “no extra incentive” tops the concerns regarding not using the mobile wallet. Security concerns are a close second.
  3. Among benefits, perceived or observed, in using a Mobile Wallet, Convenience and the ease of not carrying a physical wallet, tops the list of reasons
  4. Most of the users have used Paytm mobile wallet.
  5. 50% of the respondents have used Mobile Wallet for Bill payment. Loyalty programs and additional security will increase the mobile wallet usage
  6. Lack of awareness remains the top reason why Mobile wallet is still not reaching masses

Have you every used a mobile wallet? Would like to know your experience with it?
