Updated Google Image Search Options

During a normal google search about ICC cricket results,   I was surprised to see the new image search filter results appearing on the google

Here is how you can see the fun
- go to google.com
- click on word you wish to search
- once the results appear, click on images option that appears below the search bar (by default you are in 'all options)

- Once in images tab, you can see the colourful tags against which you can filter your results
- I guess each color represent categories. You can scroll down upto two levels
- For cricket I got this different colors

level 1 : {insect, grasshopper, spider , giant weta}, {sport, tennis, baseball, football}, {English, hindi, bangla} etc..

I clicked on English which is third group. below results appears

level 2 :{ancient}, {playing},{village,county,Glamorgan,village green,england},{sarah taylor, Danielle},

Only when you select an item from group 3 such as village/county, you search limit will be exhausted

However if you select a search term from other groups, you still have an option to dig further

Enjoy this colourful searching and filtering.

Note : this colourful tab is not appearing in IE browser. I saw it only in chrome browser.

Why Use Advertiser Extensions?

Many hours are spent on internet everyday across different types of devices (PC, Mobile, Tablet). Hence it is important for all business to have a good search strategy.

Location extensions help drive more in-store traffic and guide customers straight to your advertiser’s doorstep. They will see the address, phone number and a link to directions.

When advertisers enable Location Extensions, it helps in

  • showing the address of their business location that is closest to the customer
  • showing the business details of the business.

When there is a location-specific offering, location extensions drives more traffic for business. So it helps
  • To make ads more actionable – make it easy to click for directions
  • To increase leads
  • To improve overall CTR
  • To allow better tracking

Sitelink Extensions are additional text+URL pairs that provide links to an advertiser’s website and can be associated with a text ad campaign of the advertiser. These links provide better access points into the business website, thus helping to drive searchers to exactly the accurate information they are trying to find. This can increase CTR.

This allow advertisers to include multiple deep links within their ads, taking searchers directly to the information they are looking for

Sitelink extensions are all about determining searcher intentions
  • For advertisers with multiple product groups
    • Advertisers that have various departments within their account structure can send advertisers to the correct section of their site
  • For brand keywords
    • Site link extensions are especially good for brand keywords when the searcher’s intention is not clear
    • For example, a bank could have such sitelinks as – mortgages, loans, insurance or bank accounts
  • To improve overall CTR
    • Providing sitelinks gives the searcher more of a reason to click on your ad as it provides extra space for advertisers to call out the products or services it provides
  • To improve overall conversions
    • Site links can bring searchers closer to the product or service they are interested in
    • The closer you can drop a searcher to their desired content, the more likely they are to buy and not click back
  • Better reporting on searcher behaviours
    • Allows advertisers to get a better idea of what specific areas searchers are looking for when they search on their brand and generic keywords
    • We can see user intention. For example if a searcher searches on a bank’s brand name and then chooses loans, we know what their intention was when searching originally
    • We can then use this information to target these areas in ad copy or keywords
    • You can pull reports to see what sitelinks are getting clicked
